About Classic Design Cornice Specialists
Working with architects, contractors and owners, Classic Design Cornice Specialists has executed decorative and molded plaster projects throughout Scotland and UK.
Clients have found that our consistent, ongoing, on-site expertise is the key to keeping cast stone and ornamental plaster restoration projects on schedule and on budget. Advances in materials and techniques present many options, but in the end, experience and commitment to craftsmanship, one project at a time, are required to most successfully realise the client's vision.
Classic Design Cornice Specialists furnishes a comprehensive and innovative approach to custom ornamental plaster, for both plaster restoration projects and for any projects you may require.
Designing new work that is tasteful and expressive is not as daunting as it seems. We work closely with owners, architects and general contractors to develop ceiling designs which deliberately work to enhance the function of a room. Long associated with the most prestigious architecture, plaster is paradoxically the least costly of raw materials and the most cost effective way to create certain architectural effects. New technologies allow us efficiencies for the installation of ceiling cornices and mouldings, medallions and other decoration that were unavailable to the period plasterer. Our intimate understanding of this material benefits our clients from design of the ceiling through its completion.
By combining traditional techniques with new technologies, we develop the most cost effective methods possible for each plaster restoration project. We have restored historic existing work with period techniques, when that was most economical or when a ''museum quality'' repair was required.
We can install ''stock'' ornamental plaster elements from any number of domestic or imported designs or we can produce our own custom moulds for reproducing existing work or for new designs. Where the condition of the supporting structure is a factor, as it often is in ornamental plaster restoration work, we consider the economic benefits of substituting a lightweight, reinforced replacement (GRG, or glass reinforced gypsum). If a room or project may be under strict time constraints, we can design the project to install quickly, in large prefabricated pieces, for minimal down time.
