Graham Construction has delivered Inverclyde Council's new £44m community campus.
The complex is the new home of Port Glasgow High School, St Stephen's High School and Craigmarloch Additional Support Needs (ASN) School.
Port Glasgow High and St Stephen's High will have their own separate entrances, foyer and teaching areas but are linked through a shared 'agora' or social hub. The agora also connects with Craigmarloch and provides access to shared facilities including art, science and technology, music, sports and drama.
Craigmarloch is made up of nursery, primary and secondary blocks for both moderate and complex learning difficulties and boasts a hydrotherapy pool as part of a suite of therapy facilities. The dining room is close to the main schools' dining area.
In addition, the new campus has a fully equipped fitness suite, two gymnasiums, a four-court games hall, two full-size all-weather pitches and a multi-use games area (MUGA). These will be available for community use outside school hours, while Craigmarloch School has its own play area and smaller games area. The campus is also home to the Enterprise Centre which will serve the wider Inverclyde community.
Gary Holmes, Regional Director at Graham Construction said: "The new Community Campus is a unique facility and it has been tremendously rewarding to deliver some of the very best education accommodation in Scotland.
"Graham has worked closely with Inverclyde Council to create a resource which is shaping the way education could be delivered in the future, not only in Scotland, but across the UK.
"This has been a project that has not been without its challenges, but getting the facility right has been our number one priority and we have worked tirelessly to ensure the finished building is one the community of Port Glasgow can be truly proud of."
Council Leader Councillor Stephen McCabe added: "The new campus is a first for Scotland offering additional support needs education from nursery through to secondary with strong links to two high schools.
"Nowhere else in Scotland can offer that level of support nor indeed the superb resources all three schools enjoy. The new campus is quite simply the best that money can buy and an environment in which our children and young people can learn and achieve their potential."
