Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre Officially Opens

A new state-of-the-art £15.3m sports and leisure centre at Kirkcaldy in Fife has been officially opened by the Provost of Fife, Jim Leishman.

GRAHAM Construction was the main contractor on the project, as well as on the recently-completed Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre in Glenrothes.

The new Kirkcaldy facility boasts a 25m six-lane swimming pool with poolside spectating for 90 people, a training pool with an underwater movable floor, accessible family wet side changing facilities, a health suite with sauna and steam room near the pool area, plus a 60-station gym with the latest range of equipment, a purpose-built aerobics studio, a four-court sports hall, childrens' play centre with nearby café and a meeting room.

Neil McFarlane, Regional Director, GRAHAM Construction said: "We have delivered a number of exciting projects in Fife, including the Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre in Glenrothes and the Samsung Heavy Industries prototype offshore wind turbine our civil engineering arm has built at Energy Park Fife.

"GRAHAM Construction has specialist experience of crafting state-of-the-art leisure facilities and we have applied our knowledge to the project to create a sports and leisure centre Kirkcaldy will be proud of."

Provost Jim Leishman added that the opening of the centre marks the completion of the Council's 'Future of Leisure' project. Fife Council has invested a total of £55m in its 'Future of Leisure' programme, with three flagship facilities at Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and Dunfermline.
